Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the field of computer science dedicated to creating systems and machines that simulate human intelligence. A core component of AI is machine learning (ML)—a process where systems automatically improve by analyzing data. Related fields like deep learning and natural language processing (NLP) further enhance AI’s ability to interpret unstructured data and interact in human-like ways.

In the supply chain, AI is transforming operations by enabling predictive analytics, real-time tracking, and intelligent automation. AI can forecast demand, detect risks, optimize inventory, and improve supplier performance by analyzing data from ERP systems, IoT sensors, and market trends. This intelligence allows organizations to make proactive, informed decisions, enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and build more resilient and responsive supply chain networks.
