DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Supplement) is a Department of Defense (DoD)-specific supplement to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). All DoD contractors and subcontractors that process, store or transmit controlled unclassified information (CUI) must meet the minimum cybersecurity requirements set forth by DFARS. This includes the implementation of security controls that are specified in NIST SP 800-171.
DFARS ensures that defense companies and suppliers adopt the necessary cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive information.
