What is a REACH?

REACH Definition

Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) refers to the regulation of the European Union (EU) that went into force on June 1, 2007. REACH was created to improve the environment and protect human health. It addresses the risks associated with chemicals and promotes alternative methods for the hazard assessment of substances.

How do you get a reach certification?

If you need to seek for authorization from ECHA, your declaration must include at least the following information:

  • A report on chemical safety
  • An assessment of any available substitutes for that chemical.
  • If acceptable alternatives become available, a strategy explaining how you intend to replace the substance in the future.

To ensure REACH compliance, several manufacturers choose to submit full material disclosures (FMDs) of their products.
