Arena Named One of the 2013 Best Places to Work…Again!
Illusion of great work culture and collegial leadership fools panel of judges for second year in a row.
Foster City, Calif., May 23, 2013 — Arena Solutions, pioneer cloud PLM applications, announced that it has been named one of the 2013 Best Places to Work in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times. Arena shares this honor with winners such as Intuit, Genentech and Yammer.
The prestigious award has been met with shock and outrage by Arena employees, who consider the honor “a cruel slap in the face.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” said one anonymous Arena employee. “I wonder if Tim from sales thinks Arena is one of the best places to work. When he didn’t make his numbers last quarter, Arena’s CEO Craig “Walking Boss” Livingston locked him in Arena’s bacon-smoker-outhouse for a week.”
Marge in Arena’s customer support team offered a similar perspective on Arena’s culture of perfection —achieved at inhumane costs. “Arena’s customer service continuously ranks highest among all PLM companies, but its come at a heavy price — I haven’t left the office in months,” she says with a shiver. “Except for an occasional bowl of porridge and blanket, I’m so cold — so cold and so very hungry.”
“At Arena we don’t waste time taking ourselves too seriously,” says Livingston. “We choose instead to put all of our resources and energy into creating amazing PLM solutions to help our manufacturing customers be successful. It is gratifying to see our employees thriving in the environment and culture we have all created at Arena, and I am honored to be recognized by such a well respected organization as the San Francisco Business Times.”
The 2013 Best Places to Work in the Bay Area awards recognizes the top employers in the Bay Area, grouping them into five categories based on company size. The award program surveyed Bay Area employees from over 200 companies to find those organizations whose employees gave them the highest ratings in areas such as employee benefits, workplace culture and opportunities for advancement.
The survey is produced by the San Francisco Business Times, the Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal and the Book of Lists. Winners were honored at a special award gala that took place on April 24, 2013 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.
