Sierra Wireless
Sierra Wireless had a product data management dilemma: the company had acquired another company 1300 miles away that used different processes and systems to manage product development,
part numbering and engineering changes. In the wireless market, Sierra Wireless is faced with pressure from customers and competitors to reduce product development cycle times and time to market.
The company needed a solution that would reconcile the two systems, managing product data and changes while speeding up change processes to enhance efficiency.
The solution had to enable seamless collaboration between the two sites. Additionally, Sierra Wireless needed to integrate product data with its JD Edwards system.
- A single system of record
- Comprehensive change management
- Web-based architecture for real-time communication in
operational activities - Ease of implementation
- Seamless integration with JD Edwards
Arena was deployed at both locations simultaneously. Centralized product data allows the two engineering groups to work in parallel, sharing product data and a supplier base. The company’s product development cycle has been dramatically reduced. In one year, Sierra Wireless developed 173 new SKUs for sale.
