Arena Increases Configuration Capabilities, Enhances Analytics and Adds Collaboration Tools
Foster City, Calif., Jun 15 - Arena Solutions, the leading provider of on-demand product lifecycle management software for mid-sized manufacturers, once again raised the bar for PLM software with the introduction of the latest version of its industry-leading on-demand PLM solution. The newest release increases the ability for manufacturers of all sizes to tailor Arena PLM to match their individual internal business processes by providing more configuration options, and also delivers enhanced reporting and analytics as well as improved collaboration tools. Enhancements in the newest version of Arena PLM further enable manufacturers to reduce time-to-market, increase efficiency, and lower operating costs. Because the Arena PLM software is delivered as a service, these new features are available automatically to all existing and new customers and require no software installation, download, staging or testing.
Shortening product lifecycles, increasing cost pressures and fierce global competition are forcing manufacturers to build business processes to develop, launch and innovate products quickly. Enhanced configurability of business processes included in the latest release of Arena PLM enable users to tailor Arena to match their individual internal processes around new product introduction, supply chain collaboration and service. Proxy voting on change orders, increased flexibility to manage change order approval deadlines, and the ability to specify substitute parts for BOMs (bills of materials) are some of the configurable features included.
Furthermore, the latest version of Arena PLM offers manufacturers increased visibility into their daily operations with new change request reporting and analytics for better management of the volume and status of change requests and increased productivity. New graphical analytics embedded directly into Arena application modules provide robust visual analysis, in the context of business processes, to guide intelligent decision-making. For example, now user's can see across hundreds of ECOs at a glance, visually compare approval status, and quickly identify those that are behind schedule for immediate attention - all without running a separate report. In addition, new access history reporting capabilities provide insight not only into how effectively the organization and its global supply chain partners are collaborating using Arena PLM, but also ensures that manufacturers have constant visibility into who is accessing data and from where. While Arena’s financial-grade security infrastruture has always provided iron-clad protection for manufacturer’s product data, these new reports depicting time, date and duration of user sessions, originating IP address and domain details provide an additional level of auditability and visibility in support of outsourcing.
“With better insight into our change request management processes, we have visibility into potential issues that could affect time to market,” said Mark Devine, VP of Engineering at First Alert. “With Arena PLM, we’re also able to streamline introduction of product enhancements and better manage our packaging artwork. Arena Solutions is constantly innovating on its PLM offering. Most importantly, Arena listens to its customers when developing new features, so when new capabilities and functionality are made available, they're features that we need and that fit into our business processes.”
Manufacturing companies also rely on the ability to collaborate effectively, and Arena Solutions has built upon its already robust collaboration features that manage intra- and inter-company communication between designers, engineers, operations and the extended supply chain. Added collaboration capabilities include increased supplier participation in change order review and approval and new notification tools for automatically sharing details around change control board collaboration. These capabilities deliver easier supplier integration and access in support of outsourcing initiatives.
“Arena is debunking the myth that software as a service (SaaS) applications are not configurable,” said Michael Topolovac, chief executive officer of Arena Solutions. “Arena is committed to enabling companies to get the most out of their PLM solution. In recent releases of our PLM solution, we've focused on introducing features that enable users to tailor the software to match the way their organizations do business. Manufacturing organizations of all sizes can easily integrate Arena PLM into their existing business processes, instead of being forced to adjust their businesses to accommodate a PLM solution.”
Arena PLM enables manufacturing companies to share - in real time - a single version of the product record, facilitating design and engineering collaboration in diverse industries such as high-tech electronics, medical devices and consumer products. With an easy-to-use application that can be accessed on-demand, everyone in the global outsourced supply chain - from OEMs to their contract manufacturers, outsourced designers and suppliers - is able to work more efficiently, speed time-to-market, and more capably address market pressures.
Arena Solutions is continually enhancing its industry-leading on-demand PLM offering to match the pace of innovation demanded by today’s manufacturers. Since its founding five years ago, Arena has issued 44 versions of its PLM solution, each time unveiling new functionality to every Arena user without necessitating a software download or install of any kind. Arena can make ongoing innovation and instant, real-time upgrades available to all its customers because of the inherent nature of its Software as a Service (SaaS) platform.
